IFI 2024 Declaration: Tax Calendar
IFI 2024 Declaration Deadlines
The Real Estate Wealth Tax (IFI) applies to any individual holding real estate assets with a net value exceeding €1.3 million.
Regardless of the value of your assets (above the taxation threshold mentioned), the IFI declaration must be submitted alongside your income tax return. For the year 2024, the declaration deadlines are as follows:
- For paper declarations: May 20, 2024
- For online declarations:
- Thursday, May 23, 2024: Departments 1 to 19 and non-residents
- Thursday, May 30, 2024: Departments 20 to 54 (including Corsica)
- Thursday, June 6, 2024: Departments 55 to 95 and Overseas Departments (DOM)
Payment Methods
The IFI declaration can be submitted either online or by mail. If you reside in France and have internet access, you are required to declare IFI 2024 online. Otherwise, or if it is your first IFI declaration, you have the option to file a paper declaration.
IFI and Tax Benefits
Donations made to the Foch Foundation are 75% deductible from the IFI, up to an annual limit of €50,000.
For example, a €1,000 donation provides a €750 tax deduction, effectively costing you €250.
IFI 2024 Tax Deduction: Deadline
Eligible donations for tax reduction must be made between the IFI 2023 declaration deadline and the IFI 2024 declaration deadline.
To support the Foch Foundation, you can donate via cash, check, bank transfer, or directly online on their secure website.
When to Evaluate Your Assets?
The evaluation of your real estate assets for the IFI 2024 declaration must reflect their net value as of January 1, 2024.
Generally, any changes to your real estate assets occurring during the tax year (2024) will not be considered in your declaration. However, for retroactive changes, such as a purchase under a suspensive condition before January 1 or the cancellation of a sale, you must include these details in your IFI declaration.
